What Does a "Good" Parent Mean?

What does that mean to you? How would you define a "good" parent? I would think you could consider what the children say about their parents once they become adults, to get a good idea. There are no set rules for good parenting, of course verbal, emotional or physical abuse is NOT part of being a good parent. Instilling fear into them of you and the world does not nourish a child’s growth. They shouldn’t be "led" but be able to have the freedom to explore with some safe boundaries. There isn’t just one way to parent, I pull things form different styles that work for me and my child. I think what most parents fear is that their children won’t like them. For a while they may not, but rest assured that they can grow to love you even more with the positive coaching and teaching you provide for them while growing up.
